Erectile Dysfunction

It is estimated that about 52% of men experience some level of erectile dysfunctionSeeking treatment for ED is extremely important as going without professional medical help may cause the condition to worsen, preventing you from enjoying a fulfilling sex life.

At Century Primary Care in West Palm Beach, Florida, men can access several treatments for erectile dysfunction, including acoustic shockwave therapy, extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT), platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, and extracorporeal pulse activation technology (EPAT).

Erectile dysfunction is a common men’s health problem that makes it difficult to get or maintain an erection long enough to have sex. Almost every man experiences erectile dysfunction at some point, but if the problem persists or worsens it may point to an underlying health problem such as heart disease or depression.

Century Primary Care offers a wide range of treatments for erectile dysfunction, including:

Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT®)

Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT®) is a noninvasive treatment developed by Storz Medical that directs targeted sound waves at plaque build-up inside the penis. The sound waves break down these plaques, promoting healthy blood flow and, in turn, longer-lasting, firmer erections.

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is also a noninvasive treatment. However, instead of using sound waves, it uses small bursts of targeted electrical energy. These electric pulses encourage the creation of healthy blood vessels in the penis. The new blood vessels help to boost circulation, resulting in longer-lasting, firmer erections. ESWT is particularly effective for severe cases of ED caused by soft tissue damage deep beneath the skin.

Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT)

Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT) is an FDA-cleared, noninvasive treatment that takes ESWT technology to the next level. EPAT uses a proprietary technology that creates targeted pressure waves. By directing these pressure waves, it is also possible to stimulate the metabolism, enhance blood flow, and accelerate the body’s natural healing process. Of all the types of treatment for ED, EPAT is the quickest and most successful.

Radial Shockwave Therapy

Radial Shockwave Therapy uses small, targeted bursts of electric energy to treat plaque build-up and damage to the soft tissues just beneath the skin of the penis. This makes it ideal for minor to moderate cases of ED caused by the natural aging process.

P-shots

A Priapus Shot®, or P-shot, is a treatment for ED that uses platelet-rich plasma. A P-shot involves the injection of a platelet-rich solution into the penis, which can be done by a Century Primary Care provider. The high concentration of growth factors increases circulation and encourages the formation of new blood vessels. When combined, these factors improve the strength and duration of erections.

TriMix

TriMix is an injectable treatment for ED that contains three prescription drugs — papaverine, phentolamine, and Prostaglandin E1. You can receive the first TriMix injection in-office at Century Primary Care. The remaining injections can be self-completed from the comfort of your home. The combination of medications in TriMix help to improve circulation to the penis.

Before making a treatment recommendation for erectile dysfunction, Century Primary Care takes your physical and neurological health into account. Following a thorough physical exam, a discussion of your symptoms and goals, and a review of your medical history, our team of medical professionals will develop a custom care plan that may include one specific treatment or a combination of several.

Low Testosterone

Although low testosterone is common, it can negatively affect your quality of life and result in weight gain, loss of muscle mass, and low libido if not properly treated. At Century Primary Care in West Palm Beach, Florida, men can access testing and customized treatments for low testosterone.

Testosterone is a powerful hormone found in both men and women. It can control sex drive, regulate sperm production, promote muscle mass, and increase energy. It can even influence human behaviors like competitiveness, confidence, and aggression.

Low testosterone is a common men’s health problem that occurs when your body stops producing adequate levels of the sex hormone testosterone. Testosterone plays a vital role in sexual health, but it is also responsible for the development of the voice and muscles, hair growth, and other factors related to your appearance.

All men experience a drop in testosterone as they age. At 20, the normal level of testosterone is around 300 to 1,200 nanograms of testosterone per deciliter of blood (ng/dL). After the age of 30, testosterone production declines by about 1% every year. Low testosterone occurs if you have less than 300 ng/dL.

Low testosterone affects everyone differently and depends on the severity of hormone loss. Signs of low testosterone include:

  • Decreased libido
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Hair loss
  • Weight gain
  • Fat storage
  • Fatigue
  • Memory loss
  • General irritability
  • Reduced bone mass
  • Sleep disturbances

Testosterone deficiency is associated with an increased risk of metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, and mortality, which often result from chronic inflammation. Some men with low testosterone also experience hot flashes, a reduction in testicle size, and penis shrinkage.

To diagnose low testosterone, Century Primary Care conducts a thorough physical exam, reviews your medical history, and asks questions about your symptoms. Next, our team will order a series of laboratory tests. Depending on the severity of your symptoms, this might include a total testosterone test or a luteinizing hormone (LH) test.

If your Century Primary Care provider suspects an underlying health problem is responsible, such as a tumor or pituitary gland issue, they might also order a blood prolactin (PRL) level test.

Depending on the severity of symptoms and your medical history, your Century Primary Care provider might recommend Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT), chiropractic adjustments, nutritional therapy, or a combination of these treatments to address low testosterone.

BHRT uses plant-derived hormones to restore hormonal balance to your body. These hormones mimic those your body naturally produces, easing uncomfortable symptoms associated with low testosterone.

Chiropractic adjustments improve your posture and promote musculoskeletal alignment. Clinical research shows that good posture results in improved hormone production and a lower risk of low testosterone.

Nutritional therapy encourages healthy eating and a balanced diet. To support an increase in testosterone levels, it is important to consume foods rich in protein and vitamin D.

If your testosterone level is too low, your doctor may suggest Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT)With this option, testosterone is available as:

  • An injection
  • A patch
  • Gel applied to your skin
  • Gel applied to your nostrils
  • Pellets implanted under your skin

When testosterone is replaced to be within physiological levels, which is essential to longevity, you feel younger and are more likely to experience youthful vigor and sexual vitality.

At Century Primary Care’s Men’s Health Division, there is no association between TRT and cancer, heart disease, or stroke because our doctors know how to administer safe, proper dosages.

Shockwave Therapy

If you are experiencing chronic pain, erectile dysfunction, or other negative effects associated with the natural aging process, shockwave therapy might be right for you. Shockwave therapy is a noninvasive, chemical-free treatment that uses sound waves or high-intensity acoustic pulses to promote healing throughout the body.

At Century Primary Care, patients can access a variety of shockwave therapy treatments, including extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT), K-Laser® therapy, and extracorporeal pulse activation technology (EPAT®).

Shockwave therapy is an advanced, noninvasive treatment used in orthopedics, sports medicine, urology, and anti-aging. It uses targeted sound wave pulses to ease pain and encourage mobility.

Because the treatments are non-surgical, they allow for quick results and little to no discomfort. Following shockwave therapy treatment, you can return to your normal routine right away.

Century Primary Care uses shockwave therapy to treat a variety of common problems, including:

  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Chronic pain
  • Musculoskeletal pain
  • Sports injuries
  • Personal injuries

Century Primary Care also uses shockwave therapy in anti-aging treatments and to address stubborn pockets of body fat that won’t respond to diet and exercise.

Century Primary Care offers several types of shockwave therapy, including:

Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT®) by Storz Medical

Acoustic Wave Therapy uses acoustic pulse sound waves to target damaged or diseased soft tissues. The waves irritate the tissues, triggering the body’s natural healing response to ease inflammation and pain while creating new cells and healthy tissue.

For those struggling with erectile dysfunction, the Storz Medical AWT® procedure can also break up plaque formation in blood vessels, stimulate the growth of new blood vessels, and increase blood flow in the penis. The combination of these can improve sexual function and stimulate neurogenesis — the growth of new nerve tissue in the penis — which enhances sensitivity in the penis.

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)

ESWT uses low-frequency doses of high-intensity electric pulses to heal damaged or diseased soft tissues — triggering the body’s natural healing response, easing pain and inflammation, and improving mobility.

Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT)

EPAT is an FDA-cleared shockwave treatment used to encourage circulation, speed up your body’s metabolism, and accelerate the healing process. Instead of using electricity or acoustics, it applies pressure waves to ensure quick, pain-free results.

UltraSlim® Photonica Professional

If you’re overweight or obese and want to eradicate body fat, you might benefit from UltraSlim® Photonica Professional treatmentUltraSlim® provides immediate, non-invasive fat reduction by causing the release of fat cells. Clinical studies have shown that patients who undergo UltraSlim® Photonica Professional treatments lose up to 40 times more body fat than with traditional fat removal devices.

Red light therapy (RLT)

RLT uses low-level wavelengths of red light to improve the appearance of wrinkles and scars, encourage healing, and ease muscle pain.

K-Laser®

Like RLT, K-Laser® therapy uses targeted light energy. The K-Laser® triggers cellular mechanisms throughout the body by directing focused waves of light at damaged or diseased tissues. These mechanisms limit pain and inflammation while speeding up the body’s natural healing process. Century Primary Care may combine K-Laser® treatment with chiropractic services to amplify pain relief effects.

To determine which shockwave therapy is right for you, Century Primary Care evaluates your physical and mental health, reviews your medical history, and asks you about your treatment goals. After gathering this information, the team develops a custom care plan to align with your individual needs.
